SONG SNATCH #188- "Don't Fuck Around With Love" by The Blenders

Hello Music Lovers-

Did you know that back in the 1950’s, you could get arrested for using profanity on stage and in recordings?

Yet a handful of artists still released what they called “blue” recordings surreptitiously, and you’d have to go into a record store and whisper to the guy behind the counter and ask for the song or album.

In September 1953, Jay-Dee label owner, Joe Davis had his band, The Blenders, sing alternate lyrics to their song, “Don’t Play Around With Love” as a special, private, bonus gift recording to help the band make friends with radio DJs and to get more airplay for their songs.

Hear it for yourself on Song Snatch #188, a very rare recording by The Blenders called, “Don’t Fuck Around With Love”!

(episode running time- 4 minutes and 29 seconds)

You can learn more about this song and other controversial uses of the F-word in the Steve Anderson documentary, “Fuck” at www.fourletterfilm.com.

There are 2 Red Peters songs in the film "FUCK"- "I Can't Say These Things" and "The Closing Song".
