Hello Music Lovers-
We all have nostalgic memories of a favorite summer place growing up, and for me it was Cape Cod.
So when my producer, Eddie Grenga moved back to Boston from LA he wanted to pay tribute to the place ‘you’re sure to fall in love with’ and record the classic Patti Page tune “Old Cape Cod” and put it on my first album, “I Laughed, I Cried, I Fudged My Undies!”.
But the Cape he knew as a young man had changed, so he changed the lyrics, and for some reason, we couldn’t get a license from the publisher to include it on my album.
Find out why when you tune into Song Snatch #97 and hear Red Peters and the Alan Pinchloaf Singers sing “New Cape Cod”!
(episode running time- 4 minutes and 45 seconds)
(You can hear more of Red’s songs at www.redpeters.com, and sing along at www.redpeterskaraoke.com, and download them wherever fine music is sold.)
The image to the right is the actual lyric sheet submitted with the rejection that was faxed to us from the publisher stamped NO LICENSE. When we called back to discuss it further, they would not answer their phones! We did change a word in the last verse to a more familiar town name- Hyannis instead of Truro.
